Do you fit towbars or do I buy one and fit it myself?

The majority of the towbars we sell are fitted by us at our Leeds workshop. You could fit the towbar yourself and, as long as you understand vehicle electrical systems and have the necessary equipment, there is nothing to stop you fitting the tow bar yourself as everything comes with the towbar and tow kit for fitting and wiring. Most vehicles need to be drilled, have some of the interior trim removed for access and some under-seal striped etc. so you’ll need a reasonable toolkit and wheel ramps. No welding is required, but you may encounter one or two rusty bolts.

I am changing my car; can I fit the towbar from my old car onto my new car?

No. Not unless you are going to be purchasing exactly the same make and model of car and your towbar is type approved.

How long does it take to get a tow bar fitted?

It really depends on the type of vehicle, but typically 2-3 hours. This can be done at our Leeds workshop; exact fitting times will be given when you book the vehicle in.

How long before you can fit my new towbar?

It really depends on the time of year because ours is a seasonal business. Call us and we'll book you in as soon as we can.

What is the difference between single and twin electrics?

The single electrics socket (Black 12N) supplies the tail, brake, fog and indicator electrics for trailers and caravans. Twin electrics include the 12N socket plus a second socket (Grey 12s). This supplies the supplementary electrics necessary to run a fridge, interior lights and to charge a supplementary battery in a caravan or trailer tent.

I am towing a small trailer for my motorbike, what type of electrics will I need?

You will require single electrics in order to power the normal tail/side lights, indicator, brake and fog lights of the trailer or light board.

My vehicle has an automatic gearbox; will I need to fit a gearbox cooler?

It’s definitely recommended, certainly if you are going to be towing heavy loads up steep hills regularly.

My car dealer says my warranty will be invalid unless I fit the manufacturer’s towbar.

No. That’s quite wrong. 94/20/EC was designed to create free trade. If you fit a Type Approved towbar it will not invalidate the vehicle warranty under any circumstance.

Do you cut my bumper to fit the tow bar?

Very, very infrequently – and it’s really dependent on the age of the vehicle.  If we do need to cut your bumper we will speak to you first.

What credit cards do you take?

We accept all major UK credit and debit cards.
